This guide walks you through exactly what a day at PPS looks like, what your child can expect, and how we support families from the moment they join us.
"My son has attended PPS for three years, and the impact has been amazing. I remember his first day—he was nervous, unsure, but by the end of the day he didn’t want to leave! "
Simon, Portsmouth - Parent of Dylan Aged 10"

🔍 Detailed Breakdown of the Day
08:30 – Structured Free Play & Arrival
Children arrive and are welcomed by the Camp Manager, where they are signed in and introduced to the coaching team.
During this time children take part in guided free play activities designed to help them settle in, socialise with friends and prepare for the day ahead.
With over 45 activities available, there is something for every child to enjoy.
09:00 – Introduction & Warm-Up
The group comes together for a short welcome session where coaches:
• Introduce the day’s activities
• Explain the goals and rewards for the day
• Remind children of PPS rules, expectations and teamwork values
Children are then organised into age- and ability-appropriate groups to ensure everyone feels comfortable and supported.
09:15 – Development Session 1
Children take part in their first coached sports session focusing on:
• Movement and coordination
• Teamwork and communication
• Building confidence through sport
Activities are adapted so every child can participate and feel successful.
10:30 – Healthy Fruit Break
Children pause for a healthy fruit break provided by PPS, giving them time to refuel, hydrate and chat with friends before the next session.
10:45 – Development Session 2
Coached activities continue, building on the skills introduced earlier through:
• Fun drills
• Team challenges
• Small-sided games
These sessions allow children to develop skills while enjoying active play with their group.
12:45 – Lunch (Supervised)
Children wash their hands before lunch and sit with their groups to eat and relax under staff supervision.
Parents should provide a healthy nut-free packed lunch.
To help maintain a safe and healthy environment:
• Packed lunches must be nut-free
• Fizzy drinks and sweets are not permitted
13:15 – Social Free Time
After lunch, children enjoy a short period of supervised social free play, allowing them to relax, chat with friends and recharge before the afternoon activities begin.
13:45 – Application Session
Children return to sport where they apply the skills learned earlier through:
• Team games
• Fun challenges
• Mini competitions
This session helps reinforce learning while keeping the atmosphere fun and engaging.
15:00 – Structured Free Play & Reflection
The day finishes with relaxed group activities and a short reflection on the day’s achievements.
Children also take part in the PPS Mini Rewards Ceremony, where coaches recognise:
• Teamwork
• Effort
• Positive attitudes
• Sportsmanship
This celebration helps children feel proud of their progress and reinforces PPS values.
16:00 – Home Time
Children are signed out by parents or authorised adults through the PPS sign-out procedure.
Coaches are available to briefly share highlights from your child’s day.

🎯 Our Session Approach
Each session includes:
• A clear aim
• A focus
• A positive outcome
This helps children understand what they are working towards while still having fun.
Activities are adapted so all children can take part, and we encourage parents to share any specific needs at the time of booking so we can support their child fully.
🏅 Rewards & Recognition
We believe encouragement builds confidence.
Children receive:
• Regular praise and positive feedback
• Coaching tips to improve technique
• Certificates and medals linked to daily themes such as:
– Most Improved
– Outstanding Effort
– Teamwork & Motivation
Each day also includes a Theme of the Day, chosen by the group (for example kindness, effort or respect).
The child who demonstrates this theme most consistently is recognised by the coaches.
We keep a record of awards each term to ensure every child has a fair opportunity to be recognised.
📢 Important Information for Families
📢 Important Information for Families
PPS sessions are designed to support children’s physical development, confidence and wellbeing through structured activities. They are not intended as general childcare or entertainment only — our focus is on positive development through sport and healthy habits.
A record of rewards is kept each term to ensure fairness and equal opportunities for recognition.
If your child has any additional needs, anxieties or support requirements, please share this with us at the time of booking so we can make reasonable adjustments and ensure they feel supported throughout the day.
